Are you looking to develop an interesting and rewarding career where you get to make a significant difference to local communities? Southampton City Council are looking for an experienced individual to join us as a District Estates Maintenance Manager – Voids.

Reporting to the Housing Operations Service Lead you will be directly responsible for a team of 4 managers and 45 trade staff leading on turning around approximately 2,000 empty Council homes annually.

As a Senior Manager, you will be overseeing the development, procurement and delivery of a range of planned maintenance schemes and programmes of works, co-ordinating significant budgets of circa £6m per annum. Projects will typically include voids, repairs, refurbishments of buy back properties, fire and flood damage.

In order to succeed within the role, you will have significant experience within an operational property maintenance service. You will also have strong relevant experience in overseeing the procurement and management of multiple construction works, desirably within a housing refurbishment or social housing environment. This should include experience of directly managing commercial and operational teams, along with resource and budget management experience from a performance management perspective.

Additional working knowledge and experience of CDM and Health and Safety policies are essential for this role, along with being educated in a relevant construction qualification such as HND/HNC/CIOB.

In addition to your technical experience you will hold high levels of commercial acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to maximise business opportunities.

You will work 37-hour week. Southampton City Council operates a Flexible working scheme in addition to your basic entitlement of 28 days annual leave per year (not including bank holidays). This leave increases to 31 days after you have completed 5 years of continuous service.
