Your new role
In your new role as a facilities support worker in the catering service, you will maintain a high standard for all food and beverage preparation. On a daily basis as a catering assistant, you will interact with patients, staff and visitors, serving meals and ensuring the products are well presented and that they follow guidelines. In addition, you will ensure the catering area is tidied and cleaned after use and replenish ward stores and stocks.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to apply for this catering assistant role, you must have previous experience working as a catering assistant or in a similar role. Putting patient care at the heart of what you do is a core value for the Trust and therefore having strong customer service and care skills are key. Training in Food Hygiene or Basic Health and Safety would be a benefit.

What you'll get in return

You have a contracted number of hours per week, which are exclusive of a meal break. The working pattern will be agreed with your Line Manager prior to your commencement. This working pattern can be flexed to meet your own and service provision requirements with reasonable notice.

Our Flexible Working policy enables you to request a flexible working pattern that suits you. You can make such a request every 12 months should your commitments change.

Annual leave – The NHS offer favourable leave entitlements to support the importance of a good work life balance. The leave entitlement for a full year for full-time staff (37.5 hours per week over five days) and is significantly more generous than most comparable roles.

Allowances are set out in the following table:
Length of service Annual leave + Public Holidays On appointment to NHS 27 days + 8 days = 5.4 weeks
After 5 years NHS service 29 days + 8 days = 5.8 weeks
After 10 years NHS service 33 days + 8 days = 6.6 weeks Anyone who works on a weekend will receive a higher rate.

Pension The NHS offer an employer pension contribution of 20.8% so your combined contribution would be over 25% which is significantly higher than any other comparable position.
