Finance Officer

A forward thinking Bath based business are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join their small team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to progress their career and take on a more senior role over time.

Your new role
Supporting the Financial Controller you will be responsible for:
• Ensuring that appropriate systems of financial control are maintained and adhered to for all financial transactions.
• Processing all financial transactions and ensuring the accounting system (Quickbooks) is complete and reconciled to the bank.
• Management and maintenance of the purchase and sales ledger.
• Delivering financial reconciliations including bank, balance sheet, purchase cards, etc.
Support the production of monthly/quarterly management accounts including analysis and commentary for Directors’ review and Budget holder meetings
• Support with the production of the statutory reports, financial statements and year-end external audit.
• Prepare the monthly VAT and CIS returns.
• Update and maintain the cashflow on weekly basis to provide accurate management information.
• Support and assist in the variety of financial project work as per the business needs.
• Work with the project managers to update and reconcile the Project Management System (PMS) to provide accurate project information.
• To support the Business Manager with procurement activity for goods and services.
• Undertake any additional tasks and responsibilities that may be required.

What you'll need to succeed
Experience of being in a business or financial environment.
Experience of purchase and sales ledger.
Experience of producing financial and performance reporting.
Experience of producing management accounts and financial information to deadlines.
Ability to work flexibly, either independently or as part of a team.
Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem solving.
High level of accuracy and attention for detail.
Open, friendly person who is proactive, keen to develop and has an enthusiastic approach.
