Maintenance Technician

Our client employs nearly 250 employees in two remanufacturing plants based in Wednesbury, UK and Houdeng-Goegnies, Belgium. The combined production and office area of both plants is in the region of 25,000 sq m. Their business is to supply a range of high quality remanufactured products including steering racks, steering pumps and brake calipers that have been produced with minimum impact on the environment. Your new role

Job Purpose: The successful applicant should ensure that health and safety is paramount when dealing in routine & planned maintenance, this is for the individual and those exposed to his/her work. This role is primarily responsible for building facilities, adherence to machine cleaning schedules and waste stream disposal, including skips, general waste and scrap bins.

Principle Area Of Responsibility:
  • Support all business units in conjunction with the daily work tasks ensuring Quality and Safety come first
  • Encourage a clean and safe working environment for all
  • Ensure shopfloor equipment is available and serviceable for colleagues (Bupi, jetwashes)
  • Check that the correct tooling is available for specific tasks, that it is serviceable and appropriate to complete the job to the expected standard in line with QH&S
  • Offer knowledge on machinery maintenance, serviceability and upkeep to managers and colleagues
  • A flexible working attitude to all aspects of work, specifically opening and closing of the building
  • Control waste stream – skips, general waste, scrap bins
  • Adherence to environmental guidelines/training for waste stream tasks at all times
  • Machine cleaning and daily maintenance - emptying and recharging machines where appropriate via service schedule
  • General basic maintenance and facilities tasks (including domestic pipework, leaks etc)
  • Planned maintenance schedule adherence
  • Site Security – as a keyholder be responsible for the opening and locking up of the site
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Reactive breakdown assistance where knowledge permits
  • Assist Maintenance team with general day to day duties or specific tasks related to project work
  • Meet deadlines as communicated, where reasonable

What you'll need to succeed

Education

Good general education, to A ‘Level or equivalent or working experience in the same field. A good understanding of environmental guidelines for waste disposal

Experience

Experience in a shop floor environment. General experience dealing with routine facilities maintenance. It would be preferable that the experience was gained in an automotive environment.
