Social Worker - Adoption

You will provide support to work to the highest standard using our model of practice, Restorative Practice, to deliver the vision. You will access a professional social work development offer, that has been designed with social workers, whatever stage you are at in your career. You will be given regular restorative supervision and separate supervision focussing on development and evidencing your SWE registration. We want everyone to take a lead in an area of interest for your team and you will explore this with your line manager. Your new role
Southend Council are looking to appoint a part time 18.5 hours perm week, permanent Social Worker with adoption experience. The hours are flexible, but you must be able to work on Tuesdays.

Working in a busy team of social workers, management and administrators, this role needs an experienced individual who can hit the ground running as it will cover all aspects of adoption work.
The successful applicant will be involved in the recruitment, assessment and support of prospective adopters. Alongside this they will have the opportunity to be involved in finding families for children requiring adoption and in supporting the child’s social worker in negotiating through the adoption process.
You will maintain adequate case recording on Care First as directed in the service procedures and attend panels, conferences, reviews and court as required for each case, presenting the Council's plans and opinions with professionalism and integrity.
There is also an increasing opportunity to support young people and adults in a post adoption capacity.
In return we will offer professional supervision; appraisal and regular training.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available, however a flexible approach is needed as you will be required to be on site and to travel around the city.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.

You must have previous adoption service experience, as well as knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues. You need to have experience of multi-disciplinary working, with children and families as well as practice experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting.
