Your new role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager, and working alongside the team. Although in Design, the role is versatile, with you working across different departments including R&D. Key responsibilities include;
• Design and implement cost-effective equipment or modifications to help improve safety and reliability
• Develop a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines
• Discuss and solve complex problems with, suppliers and customers
• Ensuring a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
• Produce details of specifications for a design
• Recommend modifications following testing results
• Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design
• Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints
• Work with other professionals, within and outside the Plant Engineering Department

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed, you will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 3+ years experience within either; Heavy Industry, Structural, Civil, Mining, Hydraulics or Heavy Fabrication. Experience within LOLER and PUWER are desirable experience. Most importantly, the successful candidate will have a can-do attitude, and ready to be fully immersed into training.

What you'll get in return
Salary of £35,000.00 - £45,000.00 (DOE), with support to become a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Upon achieving chartership status, there will be a bonus of £3,000.00 paid in two instalments. With the business being international, there will be opportunities to travel to London across Europe. Regular training and CPDs are provided.
