Your new role
You will be leading on corporate accounting services, reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting and Planning. Your role will involve the delivery of detailed financial information, providing comprehensive financial management support and advice to service managers. A key part of your role will be providing an effective monitoring, reporting and financial planning service to the Corporate Directorates in accordance with the agreed timetables, procedures and standards prescribed. The position also provides support and input to service development projects within the Directorates, or across the wider organisation as assigned, with a particular focus on financial aspects of business case preparation (identifying all activity, income and expenditure and capital impacts). Provide and present comprehensive financial management information on technical and often complex issues to the Senior Finance team, members of Directorate management teams, and service managers/budget holders to enable effective decision-making.

What you'll need to succeed

With your demonstrable experience in designing, implementing and interpreting performance management systems to provide prompt feedback when plans are not being achieved, as well as the delivery of details of the likely year-end position based on the best available information. Your ability to ensure monthly financial performance reports are completed within deadline - reconciling any budget and balance sheet movements, monitoring CIP delivery, producing detailed year–end projections and identifying key variances. You will have the ability to understand key drivers of the underlying financial position and be responsible for communicating these effectively to budget holders.
Additionally you will be able to provide advice to managers to take corrective action as necessary including identifying opportunities for reducing expenditure.
As an experienced Financial Manager you will be able to support junior team members, taking responsibility for the line management of the Management Accountants and finance support team (including recruitment, appraisal and performance review).
