Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body, to recruit a Project Assurance Manager (Building & Engineering Projects) on a contract basis for an initial period of 6-12 months with the possibility of further extension. Please note, this is an estimated timeframe as the intention of the client is to recruit this role on a permanent basis in due course.

Your new role
Working within the existing Portfolio Management Officer (PMO), you will support in the independent assurance of the organisation’s capital portfolio comprising 350 projects across all disciplines with an annual expenditure of over £250m.

Your main duties will include:

Develop and maintain Project Management Procedures and standards compatible with best practice guidance and government (DoF COE) requirements;
Undertake project Health Checks / End Stage Reviews, make Delivery Confidence Assessment including readiness for next stage; make critical and essential recommendations for project success;
Ensure controlled start up for all projects and effective and proportionate governance structures and implementation of project management procedures compatible with project complexity and risk profile;
Monitor and report on all project KPIs including Cost, Schedule, Quality, Benefits, Change, Risk/Issues and Safety & Environmental management.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you should possess:

A degree qualification in Construction, Engineering, or other relevant discipline;
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the planning and/or delivery of projects;
Experience in developing or managing project costs and timelines;
Experience in developing project delivery strategies;
Sound knowledge of project management methodologies;
Excellent communication and organisational skills to collaborate and plan projects with multiple stakeholders; Experience in the use of the MS Office suite.
