Operating from Canterbury, Kent and work on projects across the UK, which include retail, commercial, residential, hospitality, education, and range in construction value up to £100m. Your new role
  • Ensure drawing packages adhere to in-house standards and procedures
  • Develop Stage 2 and 3 designs into General Arrangement Packages for Stages 4 and onwards
  • Produce detailed drawings, specifications, schedules and documents
  • Review, comment and coordinate wider Design Team information
  • Attend meetings and workshops with Clients, Contractors, Sub-contractors to assist the Project Architect
  • To raise any risk or issues within a project to aid the Project Architect
  • Responsibility for filing, and accurate filing in line with practice standards
  • To ensure compliance with the company’s brand guidelines, AutoCAD and programme-standard practice settings
  • Collating and organising technical building information from project lead
  • Undertaking site visits where applicable
  • Investigating and offering technical advice on factors that affect building developments, including user needs, site and building surveys, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring designs for health and safety and contributing to risk assessments
  • Coordinating detailed design information
  • Preparing drawings, plans, and documents for statutory approvals
  • Contributing to meetings and document preparation
  • Researching new design processes, building legislation and technology.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful applicant will have a positive attitude, will be work-flow-focused, systematic and a strong problem solver. They will also need to maintain a firm grasp on the bigger picture, able to think outside of the current task and project, and in consideration of business needs / objectives. Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership by the Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and proficient in programmes including Revit and AutoCAD. Excellent technical design skills and experience of detailing complex buildings and ability to produce comprehensive working drawing packages. You will be team focused with a view to contribute to the development of the team and the department.
