We have created the new position of Deputy Head of Projects within the Estates & Facilities Team to support the delivery of the capital improvement programme across the Kew and Wakehurst Estates.

This role plays a key role in the planning and delivery of capital projects by supporting the Head of Projects with the day-to-day delivery of the project programme, and by project managing the larger and more complex projects. The post holder will be a highly skilled project manager with experience planning and delivering projects within the historic environment, and on sites that are open to the public. They will also have experience of working as part of wider estates team and have a sound understanding of estates management and project planning.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction. Our mission is to understand and protect plants and fungi for the well-being of people and the future of all life on Earth.

We are working to end the unprecedented extinction crisis and to help create a world where nature is protected, valued by all and managed sustainably. We will achieve these goals by drawing on our leading scientific research, unrivalled collections of plants and fungi, global network of partners, inspirational gardens at Kew and Wakehurst, and our 260 years of history.

Join us on our journey as protectors of the world’s plants and fungi.

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of delivery and with significant technical, estates project management experience. You will have previously led multidisciplinary project teams of external consultants and internal experts and will be able to demonstrate experience of driving high-quality projects/design whilst achieving value for money.

The role calls for an individual that is highly enthusiastic, committed, and willing and able to operate at both a strategic and operational level. You will have exceptional interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to have credibility and gain confidence from a diverse range of influential stakeholders.

It is an exciting time to be joining Kew in this capacity and as a senior member of the Projects team you will play a key role in helping to shape the future of project delivery at Kew.
