Recruiter: Bristol City Council
Project Site Inspector (Clerk of Works), Bristol City Council
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a site inspector to support the delivery of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in Bristol City Council’s Energy Service.
The projects are key to Bristol City Council meeting its ambitious carbon neutrality targets, and involve a diverse range of technologies across both the residential and commercial sectors. Your role will be to work as part of the projects team to ensure that the projects are delivered safely and to a high standard.
The Energy Service is constantly seeking new opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings. Projects are likely to include LED lighting, insulation, energy-efficient boilers, solar PV, battery storage, BMS systems and others.
Projects are across both the commercial and residential sectors. In addition to meeting the Council’s carbon targets to combat climate change, some of the projects have the added benefit of trying to alleviate fuel poverty and improve living conditions for residents.
Projects will be instigated by our development team, and then passed to our operations team for delivery. Work will be within the operations team to support project managers, and will centre around site quality inspections and health & safety inspections, to ensure works are completed according to specification and safely.
You should have an understanding of climate/carbon issues, and a good appreciation of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures (or a willingness to learn more).
You will have the technical skills to carry out the role, which should include:
- experience in a similar role;
- ability to read and understand project drawings, specifications and technical information;
- knowledge of building construction, building services, regulations and standards;
- knowledge of Health and Safety legislation;
- knowledge of standard industry construction contracts and contract management.
You will also have skills in customer service, time management, problem-solving and communication, and will be required to manage on site customer and contractor relationships and to take a proactive approach to resolving issues.
