As the campus is home to students for most of the year each campus must provide both students and staff with everything they could need. Joining the Estates team means working closely with every element of UWE as the campuses change and adapt to the needs of each individual. The role We are seeking to appoint a full time Clerk of Works (Fabric) to join the busy Estates Department.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in close collaboration with colleagues in our M&E, Project Management, Design & Space Planning teams. You will be joining a great team with a range of skills and specialities based in Frenchay Campus and will be involved new with building construction, refurbishments and adapting and improving spaces.
You will represent the interests of the University by ensuring that the quality of materials and workmanship displayed by building contractors is in accordance with the contract specification and drawings, as well as complying with statutory requirements and industry best practice by inspecting the works in order to give an independent assessment.
UWE Bristol is in the process of building a new engineering department building, which is due to open for occupation in September 2020. The building will provide specialist workshops, study areas and laboratories accommodating a wide range of engineering disciplines such as composite manufacturing, machining and metrology.
Initially a large part of the role will involve working on this exciting multi-million pound project to ensure a successful handover. This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give our students access to everything they need to succeed - with GBP 300m having been spent recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation to enhance our offer even further.
In addition to progressive pay rates, UWE Bristol offers a wide range of staff benefits. This post is a permanent, and full-time working 37 hours per week and is not available on a job share basis.
