Nottingham City Homes are an arms’ length management organisation (ALMO) of Nottingham City Council. We manage the council’s 27,000 council houses as well as growing our own stock through new build and acquisitions. As an organisation, we are in an exciting period of change and growth, creating insourcing opportunities to grow the commercial side of our business, and we’re delivering commercial building, repairs and maintenance contracts across the wider market.
Your new role
Your role will be Commercial Services lead at Assistant Director level for Nottingham City Homes. This role is a pivotal position to support the team as well as support their ambitious growth plans. Nottingham City Homes are about to embark in one of their most exciting periods since they were formed, particularly when it comes to the ambitious new house programme they have recently started. You will be the key stakeholder in this.
You will have a proven track record of successfully leading a high volume housing repairs and maintenance services function from the private or public sector.
You will have 5 direct reports as well as over 100 indirect reports. The direct reports consist of a Managing Quantity Surveyor, Senior Commercial Contracts Manager, Senior Construction Manager, Senior Projects Manager and a CDM Site Safety Inspector.
As the Assistant Director, Commercial Services, you will lead, develop and promote new business opportunities to expand our in-house building and construction team to deliver new maintenance and construction related business across the City by providing strategic and operational direction. Nottingham City Homes have a varied and diverse workload including new build projects, decent homes standards and an exciting capital works programme. You will therefore manage all these areas of construction, which no other social housing provider can offer within the East Midlands.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience working with the housing/residential sector, ideally from a Quantity Surveying or Project Management background.
You will have worked in an operational role and understand the importance of developing and maintaining a positive working environment and culture. You will be confident in presenting at board level and be happy working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will understand that you must be resilient as well as being a quick decision maker. You will have a construction related degree or equivalent.
What you'll get in return
We are offering a salary of £66,543 - £77,634 with an excellent benefits package including 34 days annual leave, a Defined Benefit Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), flexible working policy and a generous relocation package.
