Course Director, Construction & Facilities Management, Leeds Beckett University
We are investing in our academic provision and are seeking to appoint a Course Director in Construction and Facilities Management to join our team of experienced academic staff. We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic academic to make a key contribution to our academic provision through teaching, research and enterprise.
You will be able to teach and contribute to our research and enterprise portfolio in areas within the construction management and facilities management disciplines, in the areas of construction management, facilities management and collaborative working including elements of professional practice using industry experience to inform teaching.
The position will also lead the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Facilities Management and Construction Management to ensure they are healthy and current. Responsibility for recruitment, progression and retention of students is also part of this role. You will have a proven track record in student engagement and support to achieve these outcomes.
We welcome applicants with a relevant PhD, or other higher degrees. The successful applicant will possess a first degree in construction related subject and a masters degree in a construction management of facilities management related subject.
The ability to demonstrate HE level teaching experience, and/or a Higher Education Academy (HEA) accredited teaching qualifications and/or membership of the HEA would be expected. Applications are also invited from those with a background in professional practice who can demonstrate extensive knowledge in the areas described, and/or an aptitude for teaching and research capability.
Corporate membership or eligibility for corporate membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or other relevant professional body is desirable.
The ability to work collaboratively and work with teams through change will be beneficial as this role will cut across several courses working on different modules and modes of delivery. Delivery of teaching at different Levels and engaging the subject with other modules will be paramount to this position.
You will join the School of the Built Environment & Engineering based at our City Campus and contribute to the delivery of our growing undergraduate and postgraduate provision. There are extensive and excellent specialist facilities located in a setting which offers many additional amenities for our students and staff.
