Building Services Contract Manager, Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team, Westminster

£36,500 per annum | London | Date posted 09 Aug 2018

Are you a meticulous, proactive and highly organised individual with a natural approach with people? Would you make the most of your experience and drive while working in a historic setting? If so, the Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST) in the House of Commons, has the ideal opportunity for a Building Services Contract Manager.

PMST, within In House Services, consists of approximately 150 staff who maintain the building, engineering systems and furnishings in order to ensure that the parliamentary estate is a fully functioning, safe working environment, equipped for the demands of the 21st century.

And, what an estate it is. Consisting of buildings that range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House, it’s located within a UNESCO World Heritage site and spans four conservation areas and is about to embark on a multi billion pound redevelopment programme. In short, it's a great environment to work in – and here's your opportunity.

About this diverse position

Your focus is to provide professional contract management support to the Senior Contract Manager for all contracts within the PMST with an annual value in excess of £6m. This role embodies a strong procedural approach to collaboration, discipline and control across all maintenance contracts and will see you assist in ensuring the House of Commons complies with all statutory requirements, along with delivering value for money.

Your duties will include the procurement and management of delegated contracts and budgets in compliance with the necessary guidelines, legislation and financial regulations, plus overseeing the day-to-day monitoring of contract performance.

You will also act as focal point for contract administration communications, monitor the electronic NEC contract workflow system, and assist with contract advice to maintenance technical officers.

What we are looking for

To succeed, you will ideally have a NVQ Level 3 in a building maintenance-related or contract management discipline, preferably complimented by a proven track record of managing contracts in compliance with EU procurement and/or NEC contract management procedures. Experience of managing budgets and tracking spend is essential.

Collaborative, adaptable and deadline-driven, you must be an outstanding communicator, both verbal and written, with impressive interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Strong planning, prioritisation and time-management abilities are also vital.

In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package includes the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 30 days per year. There are also subsidised restaurants, a gym on-site and a season ticket loan scheme is available.
