Building Services Soft Landings Manager, Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team, Westminster
Are you a driven, proactive and strategic individual with outstanding communication skills? Would you make the most of your experience and drive while working in a historic setting? If so, Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST) has an exciting career opportunity for a Building Services – Soft Landings Manager.
PMST, within In House Services, consists of approximately 150 staff who maintain the building, engineering systems and furnishings in order to ensure that the parliamentary estate is a fully functioning, safe working environment, equipped for the demands of the 21st century. And, what an estate it is.
Consisting of buildings that range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House, it’s located within a UNESCO World Heritage site and spans four conservation areas and is about to embark on a multi billion pound redevelopment programme. In short, it's a great environment to work in – and here's your opportunity.
About this pivotal role
Your challenge? To act as the ‘Intelligent Client”’ for PMST for the design, commissioning, handover and operation of all building and engineering services from our Estates team to ensure the project strategy and design brief meet the required effectiveness and life cycle required for seamless integration into planned and future reactive maintenance tasks.
You will also ensure the operational budget is set early in the design process and any design changes are reviewed for their impact, and that Estates comply with agreed maintenance standards throughout the design, commissioning and handover of major projects.
Acting as the PMST subject expert for Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Government Soft Landings, establishing close working relationships with all teams, and working closely with the Pre-Planned Maintenance manager are also vital to this role’s success.
What we are looking for
To succeed, you will ideally have a minimum of a City & Guilds Qualification NVQ Level 3 in a building services discipline, preferably with relevant practical experience in more than one trade and of setting up and managing planned maintenance systems.
It would be a distinct advantage if you have experience of working in a Government Soft Landings or outcome driven environment and some prior use of BIM level 2.
Collaborative, calm under pressure and deadline-driven, you will be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with impressive interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Strong prioritisation and time-management abilities are also vital.
In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package includes the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 30 days per year. There are also subsidised restaurants, a gym on-site and a season ticket loan scheme is available.
