Recruiter: Calderdale Council
Facilities Management Technical Services Manager, Calderdale Council, West Yorkshire
Regeneration and Strategy Directorate
Calderdale Council’s Corporate Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM) Service is responsible for the Council’s large and diverse property portfolio: around 300 buildings including changing rooms, leisure facilities, office buildings and many heritage buildings such as the iconic Halifax Town Hall.
The Service’s Facilities Management (FM) Technical Team is responsible for all technical resources (internal and external), required to deliver an effective maintenance and development service for this property portfolio.
This is a specialist team with key expertise, which acts as an intelligent client responsible for determining, specifying, commissioning and managing the full range of specialist works required to maintain such a large, diverse and complex portfolio of properties.
It is also responsible for monitoring the Council’s buildings and drawing up programmes of work across the estate, ensuring that all planned, programmed and reactive repair works are delivered with a customer focus, on time and within budget.
The team has oversight of the delivery of capital projects and significant building works, responsible for substantial capital budgets as well as an annual revenue budget of circa £2m.
Given the critical importance of this area of work, this post has been newly created to lead, direct and manage this team.
This post will ensure a robust and risk-based approach to the identification of the greatest needs – across all building disciplines – securing and aligning scarce and finite resources and deploying and managing them rigorously. This is a senior, high profile, client-facing role responsible for delivering through both directly employed and external resources.
The principal responsibilities of the post are:
- Leading and quality assuring a multi-disciplinary team of professionals;
- Acting as the Council’s technical lead: providing professional supervision and guidance on technical matters, both directly and through support from others;
- The development and delivery of agreed service levels through robust monitoring systems, driving continuous service improvements; and
- Effective delivery and closure of all programmes and projects, ensuring that strict financial targets are met.
With a degree level of education and a qualification or evidence of continuous professional development in a hard facilities management function, the successful candidate will be a results driven people manager with considerable understanding of hard FM services.
You will demonstrate the ability to drive improvement and build first class relationships, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service levels are achieved at all times.
