Appointment of Two Lay Members of Council, Cardiff University

£Excellent | Wales | Date posted 12 Apr 2018

Cardiff University is an ambitious and innovative university with a bold strategic vision, built on a foundation of excellent teaching and research across a broad set of disciplines.

Based in a cosmopolitan thriving capital city, we have a footprint not only in Wales, but nationally and internationally. We were the fastest rising amongst the leading research universities of the Russell Group for our performance in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), climbing 17 places to 5th for quality and 2nd for impact.

With annual turnover exceeding £500 million, the University is undergoing a multi-million pound investment programme for which it has successfully raised a £300 million bond.

The Council of the University is seeking to appoint two Lay Members of Council. The Council is keen to recruit members with a variety of skills, and particularly those who bring experience and expertise in property development and education within Wales.

Reporting to the Chair of Council, members are collectively responsible for the management of the University and the safeguarding of its mission, vision and values.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate significant board level and governance experience, a commitment to higher education and will bring to bear their skills, knowledge and experience in support of our vision and purpose.
